My husband called Chant "puck head". The first time a friend heard him say it that was not what she thought he said.
Don't miss the needle teeth period. The 3 puppies coming for training are all at that stage. Real cute like yours but oh those teeth.

I totally get it. Have an almost 10 wk old here who is finally by herself. Litter mates were some distraction til yesterday. Now we are in training mode. My recommendation is don't allow it as a baby as the habits tend to escalate.

My littlest girl in the litter was like a pit bull!!! Never had a pup that bad in my 22+ yrs of breeding. Would never predict it from this breeding either! She'd grab my jeans and just go at it. I finally reached down and tried to pry her jaws and wasn't happening.... Grabbed and squeezed her ear and well, gosh... Magic. Welcome to field training, my dear!!! Guess what, didnt kill her spirit but made her think twice about that behavior!

And that is an important point. Each dog is an individual just like each human. There is no one training "system" that will work perfectly for all of them. BUT... you MUST train them. From the get-go.

Thor went from a$$hole to his current nickname, dipshit. That one comes out when he does some 'dumb-dog' kind of behavior - like forgetting where he buried a bone, scared by his own farts, forgetting where the walls are when playing fetch indoors, etc.

That's for sure. I had a couple in the litter who were on the soft end and would just scream bloody murder when the others would grab their ears or tail (funny how the others seemed to enjoy that!). And then a couple real tough cookies. I think I have a pretty tough one here w/ Pip.

Trigger although the largest was also the softest of the batch. He'll be seeing his sister shortly for swimming, but boy did she boss around the boys, she was definitely top puppy. I have a pic somewhere of Trigger hanging on to the edge of the whelping box, with a "HELP" look on his face, while in the background you see 2 black puppies tumbling about...his sister playing with his brother. Its a funny kind of soft....he can be very independant, and nothing really phases him (new sounds, experiences, etc), but step on a toe and the world is about to end based on the noise... making sure he gets lots of rough and tumble running, and still gets beat up/played with by his sister, and gets petting firmly and all over, kind of "roughed up". he actually enjoys it.
