    Wet Dawg

    Aye Mates,
So I got out to train earlier today with me gun dog recruit MAC just having turned 13 weeks old yesterday, he was given the chance at a bumper on the water. True to form, wee MAC charged in and made a straight line to the bumper with a check cord in tow. I was on the other end o' the rope and kept it out o' his way whilst he took care o' business. Amazingly, he's not dropping the bumper at his exit point to shake off excess water (commonly exhibited and unwanted behavior), so I coaxed him back to meself, reeling him in slowly. Lot's o' praise as I let him hold the bumper and finally took it with the command "GIVE" issued simultaneously. Verbal praise accordingly as a reward.

    MAC - Water Work
Me 13 week old gun dog recruit MAC on return with a bumper. The lad loves the water and took a nice straight line out and back each time. A total o' three retrieves made - always leave them wanting more.👍

    MAC ~ Learning The Ropes

MAC did outstanding work today. Here he is learning a bit about negotiating his way through emergent aquatic vegetation and remained steadfast in his hold of the bumper whilst doing so. I kept MAC on the check cord for the walk back to me truck, keeping him close, he maintained a HOLD on the bumper all the way back to the truck.👌

All is being kept no pressure and fun for now as I build stronger desire, confidence, and motivation in him each day.

I swear he seems like he's a lot older than he really is. He must have had a blast.

MAC is indeed having a BLAST. He get's to travel and train daily with the more advanced dogs, though his sessions outside of bolding walks are individualized to meet his specific needs.
