As far as food goes....... Sophie came from the UK and was on Royal Canin Labrador Puppy formula, and she did fine on it. Switched her to a rotation, mainly Fromm 4 star, when she was just over a year, she's almost 7 and is doing great on it. Bruce also came from the UK, also on the RC Lab Puppy. Started having loose poo's almost immediately after his arrival. Did some research and RC changed the formula here in the US, and not for the better. Basically I did a cold food switch on a 10 week old puppy. I put him on the Fromm Large Breed Puppy Gold and he was soon back to normal. He also went on the 4 star rotation with Sophie at 12 months, and did fine. Brooks came from windycanyon and was on the Eukanuba that she uses. He did fine. I switched him the Sophie's rotation at a year, and struggled with loose poo's. Anne recommended Eukanuba Performance 30/20, and he is doing fine on it.

Morale of the story.... Every dog is different and there is no "best" dog food, other than the food your dog does best on.
Thank you! I completely agree!! When we brought Lido home, his poo was already loose. I attributed it to stress from the new environment, but it never got better, even after a couple of weeks. I added a probiotic, which also didn't help. That's when I decided to change his food. Members on this forum weren't happy with the Taste of the Wild Puppy I had decided to change him to, so I decided to try Fromm Large Breed Puppy. The change over went well.

I've had many dogs over the years, and there's no one size fits all. One of my little dogs (maltese/westie?) is allergic to nearly everything and does best on Orijen 6 Fish (thank God she's small, since it's so expensive!). My other little dog (yorkie/chi?) has a sensitive tummy and has had stress colitis a couple of times in the past, so he can't eat a rich food like Orijen. He's currently eating Earthborn Venture and does well on it. I've had boxers who did very well on Taste of the Wild Pacific Stream.

I also do temporary fostering of small dogs; I have a little yorkie right now for a few days who recently had lots of stones removed from his bladder, kidneys, and urethra, poor guy. He's on a vet food for now and may have to be for life.

I will feed a dog whatever he/she does best on. Sometimes, it's not "the best" food, but it's best for that dog.

    Lido - 10 Weeks - July 28, 2018

I bought a second, larger food puzzle but it was too hard for him. I’ll try again in a few weeks. Meantime, the smaller one I have works great.
