    Presto is 10 weeks old!

Presto is 10 weeks old today! We are getting a schedule in order and starting to learn all kinds of new things. My favorite trick is bounce and before anyone freaks out because of joints, etc., he came with the behavior so I just put it on cue so he does it less than he did before. I'm using it to indicate that he wants to do something fun. Obedience trainers call it engagement or an activation cue. And, most importantly, is SUPER CUTE! I'll have to share a video. He also has the cutest touch (nose to hand) and his recall is going really well. Of course, he came with a retrieve and he loves to play tug, too, which I am going to totally capitalize on for dog sports.

Presto went to dog school on Monday (obedience) to watch the big dogs work. On Tuesday he stayed home alone for the first time for three hours and did really well. He goes to his own puppy class starting next Tuesday and he'll continue to go to my open/utility class where I'll split time with the two dogs. Crate training is going super and he only fusses when I put him in there when he's not tired, like when I had to run out to talk to a neighbor really quick, or turn water on/off in the front yard. He loves crating in the van and going places. Last night he went to agility class and had a welcome party, with his own little puppy cake, toys, balloons and lots of dog friends. He tried the tunnel and watched the big dogs. He met Petunia the pig, some sheep, cows and turkeys. He really loved it!

Potty training is going well. He came from the breeder knowing to go in certain places, including outside, so when I'm home I leave the door open and he goes out to potty when he has to go. I still carry him outside when he gets up from sleeping or a nap or if he is overstimulated and hasn't gone in a while. Because I am working from home while he is a baby puppy, I can't watch him like a hawk, but can keep a close eye on him, so this is working out really well for us!

Oh, and not only does he sleep through the night, but I have to wake him up! He prefers to sleep 10pm-8am and I get him up between 6-6:30am. Hopefully this doesn't change. He will go, go, go pretty much forever, so he has a lot of forced naps in his crate. He loves the big dogs and they have accepted him into their pack, as you can see in the photo below.

He's a lovely puppy and I am so pleased at how great he is to live with and how he's coming along! I don't get a ton of photos, mostly videos, because he doesn't stay still for very long!

He is too cute. You seem to be keeping him very busy. Sounds like the puppy training you doing on your own is going really well.

Awesome that he sleeps that long! You’re inspiring me to move the wake-up alarm from 4:30am to 4:45am! Our bedtime is 9:30pm.
