    MAC ~ A portrait.

    Aye Mates,

LAKE CHAFFEE'S AUTUMN LEGACY O' TRAD FINIAN MAC - call name MAC (7 months old). We worked on some post hunt bird work this morning. Water single marks. Proper HOLD and delivery to hand. Walking HOLD whilst heeling both on and off lead. This lad is coming along quite nicely. Incredible bird drive and a nice "OFF" switch in the home. Very steady prior to the send. Not really hunting him this year as I want him very solid for next year. Will start hunt testing with him in the spring of 2019.

MAC has certain grown into a very handsome young Labrador. There is no doubt in my mind he will enjoy great success in the field!

Awesome picture. I do not hunt my seniors and know only what I read here about the sport. One thing I noticed right away what I think you might call a soft mouth. His "lips" are only moved back by the duck. When any of my dogs have something in their mouth, their muzzle seems more wrinkled/scrunched up, obviously holding tighter to the object. Don't know if I'm right on this, may be all wet, but noticed it right away.

    Fran,
You are in the ball park. Some of this quality (soft mouth) is genetically passed on and it is also achieved through proper conditioning and training.
