What a good playmate that Mal is. Imagine having to keep all that energy occupied. Oban was 21 pounds at 16 weeks. I think we need training videos too.
A little late, but Presto turned 16 weeks old on Friday!
He weighed in at 33 lbs, so I suspect he's going to be on the smaller side of the standard. Here he is playing with his young Malanois friend at the pond over the weekend. He also played with some Portuguese Water Dog friends the day before. We hit an obedience match on Saturday and an agility match on Sunday. Busy weekend! He found something in the grass in the field and came when called, carrying the thing he found, which was an animal intestine, which he then sucked down his gullet in 0.2 seconds! No vomiting or diarrhea, so I'm going to assume he is fine... Dogs are gross!
Today Presto jumped a three foot fence! Well, sort of... I was training Linus in the yard and put Presto in my garden area with a giant raw bone. Presto is not too keen on sharing the spotlight, so he left his bone and jumped in a garden box, then hopped the fence, high centered himself, and gracefully slid down the other side. At that point and put him - and his bone - in a crate inside the house.
This week we're working on scent articles! Last week he mastered the chin rest and has 50 foot puppy go outs. He also can "fly" around a traffic cone from both directions.
We probably won't have any big adventures this weekend because I am trialing Linus both days. We'll go for legs one and two of our Open title.

Just 3 weeks older and he looks so much bigger than Henry! And Henry could use a Mal pal like that!
Luckily the Mal owner is young-ish, retired, lives on six fenced acres, has a dog pool and a training building AND does agility and obedience and the dog just got his Championship at 15 months old (way easier than a Lab CH, but still!). So, yeah, he's expending energy left and right!
I'll see what I can do about the training video.
I bet he was tired out after that play date! Looks like a blast!!
He looks big compared to the Mal! He's definitely getting leggy. I'm thrilled that he seems to be developing a nice tail, which can be hard to get in yellows! Linus has a feathery banana tail, which I hated for a long time, but everyone is always commenting on how much they love it because he's really waggy when he's working and in the field it's what communicates where he is located in tall grass (color makes it hard) and I can also tell when he's found the bird from long distances by the way it moves. Funny how things turn out.
