Baptized In Blood ~ A photograph.

    Aye Mates,

Me nine month old Labrador Retriever "MAC" , the side o'his face covered in a combination o' pheasant blood and his own blood oozing from a small cut under his right eye serve as his confirmation as a bird driven gun dog. Still in the early stages of his development as a future field champion, MAC flushed and retrieved to hand, a total of three pheasant during a hunt for upland birds this morning. We have been working diligently on training MAC to be steady to wing, shot and fall which he did flawlessly on all three birds today. It is so grand watching this young retriever putting it all together under actual field conditions. I could not have been more proud of MAC'S performance whilst afield this morning.

    Cheers,
    THE DOG WHISTLER

    Good going MAC!

What do you think his injury is from? Dashing through the undergrowth or maybe the bird pecking at him.

The blood on the side of his face is pheasant blood from carriage of the bird. The speck under his eye is likely from pushing through thick cover.
