Oh boy! Presto turned 8 months old yesterday. We are officially in adolescence proven by the fact that he tried to mark inside the agility barn recently. That's a tough one because it's kinda outside and the ground is dirt or sand and I can guarantee other dogs have gone in there. So, can't really blame a guy for trying, but being that he was unsuccessful and the repercussions of trying were fairly unpleasant for him, I feel pretty good about his future as an agility barn marker. Did you know that most agility instructors/barn owners charge you $20 for marking in the barns? It can be an expensive hobby!
Training is going well. We are working on reward markers, which is something I haven't done before. It helps a lot with dogs that experience frustration. We're doing all the things. At the end of March we start a CCC class, which is a really interesting concept and a great class for Presto. It's a new program by Suzanne Clothier that a local instructor became certified to teach. We'll see how it goes. I have a lot of friends taking it with young dogs and are really liking it. https://www.seespotgrin.com/ccc
Presto is going to be a little guy. I think he is 19-20" tall and may top out at 21-22" is my guess. Weight wise, I have no idea. I should get him weighed. But, I'm thinking 60-65 lbs. His 16 week weight has him at 65 lbs. Two of his brothers are 22" and in the mid-70s. It's like there was a split in type. Half of the puppies are more like Presto and the other half are more typey - conformation. It'll be interesting to see how they turn out as adults.
The dog walker send this to me on Presto's 8 month birthday yesterday.
Puppy's first obedience bag!
On a hike last weekend.
I don't think he'll ever grow out of this!
