    Presto is a YEAR OLD!

Boy, how time flies... Seems like it was just yesterday that I was on pins and needles waiting for Presto to be born. I remember thinking, "Will there be enough puppies for me?" Thankfully, there were twice as many puppies born as was expected and I got my boy.

I haven't been on the last two months or so because I was going through hell at work and then got a new position at a new firm. We are all much happier and feel settled in... I have some traveling to do through the summer, my "office tour", but once that is over, I won't travel very often. Maybe once a month, if that. The new gig features more money and less working. Also, it's a firm that is small enough that people are treated like people, not numbers, which is also quite nice. It's not an easy role, but I could not be happier with the change. I think the boys are loving it, too!

Anyway...my little peanut turned a year old on Friday! He's 21" (plus a little bit) and about 65 lbs. He grew up a tad over the past month or so, but all in the leg. He has some filling out to do, but structurally, he is done. His ears already look a bit short to me, so hopefully his head is finished growing! He's a little guy with a big personality and tons of enthusiasm for life and training and everything else! He hurt his back leg a few weeks ago and it didn't last long, so we started renting a local indoor pool to keep him exercised while he heeled from whatever it was -- assuming a twisted knee or pano in a back leg. The pool is heated to 90 degrees so I'd swim with him. Eventually, we included Linus and now the boys and I are going once a week together.

Obedience and agility training are going really well. We're currently working on start line stays online and he has an agility lesson each week. Here are some pics from the last few months that I've been off the board.

“Because of the dog's joyfulness, our own is increased. It is no small gift. It is not the least reason why we should honor as well as love the dog of our own life, and the dog down the street, and all the dogs not yet born. What would the world be like without music or rivers or the green and tender grass? What would this world be like without dogs?”

His ears look a bit short? I'm not sure I've heard that used as an assessment of their development. Now I'll have to go look... oh, Henry....

Technically speaking, the ear should reach to the inner eye, like where the tear ducts are. I don't think his ears are short, but the way they are set makes them look short sometimes. He has his mom's ears, too. They look a lot a like. Here are some pics of her. You can also see the smile he inherited from her.
