TRAD was born to hunt birds and has demonstratd strong drive for birds from a very early age. TRAD'S bird drive was further enhanced with lots of early exposure to all things related to hunting with the exception of gunfire which was done gradually over time.

TRAD at about 10 weeks old. "KING OF THE HILL"

Early and frequent exposure to birds as a pup have translated into strong prey drive as an adult, that demonstrated in this photo of TRAD pursuing a clipped wing mallard on the water, a drill I use to teach retrievers how to work crippled waterfowl. The mallard though flightless, used every trick he knows to keep TRAD at bay. This exercise creates excitement and enhanced prey drive, familiarizes the dog with escape techniques used by "wounded" birds, and with persistence practically assured long tiring swims, the retriever gets the cobenefit of aerobic conditioning in a form of exercise that is gentle on his musculoskeletal system.

TRAD and his conditioning trainer "COACH MALLARD".

    Cheers,

Again, thank you to all. I will definitely post some photos from my hunts with TRAD during his first actual hunting season starting soon.

I am also posting another thread titled TRAD'S EARLY HUNTS under the Labrador Puppy Pictures Forum detailing some of TRAD'S early exposure training. Give it a look!

    Cheers,
    IRISHWHISTLER
