    Pup of promise

Last year on 9/3/13, I lost my Labrador Retriever companion gun dog AKC WILDROSE CAYDEN JH, SH to a very sudden and inexplicable death at the way too young age of 7.5 years of age. Needless to say, the loss of CAYDEN was crushing to me as we were constant companions. The void left by CAYDEN'S sudden departure left me in a tailspin of depression and I knew within days that I must get another pup to help me cope with the immense loss that was consuming me.

I started searching for a pup and initially met with little success specific to the short list of breeders I was making inquiries to. I had contacted Haynes Floyd out of DOUBLE TT BRITISH KENNELS and it turned out that a client of his that had reserved a pup had to drop off of the list due to an illness in his family. Haynes told me I could have my pick of either of the two black males in that litter. I did some research on the sire and dam and told Haynes I wanted one of the pups. Haynes agreed to pick the pup for me, something I had always done myself in over thirty years of owning Labrador Retrievers. I remember Haynes telling me, "I will pick the pup like I am picking him for myself". I put my trust in Haynes and he did me right. On 10/24/13, I took delivery of my new black male Labrador Retriever pup TTF CRAIGHORN KIFFIN TRAD. The pup was beautiful and immediately won my recently broken heart. The wee pup TRAD brought healing to me and to my family. He has been my constant companion and shadow ever since that very first day.

TRAD and I have trained hard and continuously since his arrival last October. This past summer, TRAD earned his AKC Junior Hunter Title 27 days prior to his first birthday. Just a year after losing CAYDEN and just under a year since TRAD'S much needed arrival in my life, we are about to embark on our first season of hunting together. TRAD has been a pup that has brought with him, great promise ever since his having brought a renewal of joy and peace in my suddenly dogless life last September.

TRAD has proven himself as a "pup of promise". I have zero doubt that TRAD will perform outstandingly as a gun dog during our hunting adventures togethwr this season. Additionally, TRAD has become a much welcomed and honored member of our family. Something tells me that CAYDEN is watching over us and is at peace for TRAD having brought us comfort in the wake of our loss of CAYDEN while in his prime. We miss you everyday CAYDEN!

Trad has grown into a fabulous looking young boy. I know he doesn't replace Cayden in your heart, but he's clearly made his own space there! When you have a chance, can we see that photo of him standing up to inspect the birds on that table again? It was so cute!

Have a great season with your promising fellow!

“Because of the dog's joyfulness, our own is increased. It is no small gift. It is not the least reason why we should honor as well as love the dog of our own life, and the dog down the street, and all the dogs not yet born. What would the world be like without music or rivers or the green and tender grass? What would this world be like without dogs?”

Triad is such a handsome boy. While no dog will replace Cayden, as it should be, I'm sure he is looking down and happy that you honored him with such a fantastic pup.

Congratulations!!! Trad looks great and he seems to be very smart and talented. Pretty sure that Cayden made sure that the one that comes after him would be a special lab. I believe that Lynn did the same thing for me
