    Ah, so sorry Ace!

Our local PetsMart has a vet in store and I would have demanded a check just to be sure. Ace's injury does not look too bad. Some Neosporin or like will help it heal and keep it soft so no nose itching.

Unfortunately, these things happen with folks who are not as aware as we are. Leashed dogs meeting is definitely an unnatural thing for dogs.

I don't allow my dogs to greet other dogs. May sound mean, but my dogs don't need to meet other dogs. We have friends with dogs, we have multiple dogs at home, we have dogs that we board, our dogs get to meet other dogs in a controlled environment. A dog in public? No way.

I agree with Jen. I don't let mine meet other dogs unless there is a really good reason.

Sorry this happen to you and Ace, and I hope he heals up quick!!

it's possibly she was shocked and embarrased adn not thinking so left. we all react different to stress. It doesnt' make it the rigth thing to do but it happens. Some also go into adrenaline mode when something like that happens. I had a it happen to me. Both ways (my dgo was attacked or my dog went after another dog).

Agree wtih Snowshoe 100% - your dog was scared and telling the other dogs to leave him alone on the way out and that shoudl not warrant a correction. Growling is a GOOD EXCELLENT mode of communication. If you take away teh grown, the dog will simply have to take it to the next level. It's a very important part of doggy communication. And it's OK for a dog to tell another dog " please give me space" - that's what a growl is. the dog shouldn't HAVE to allow all and any dog into their personal space.

I don't randomly let my dogs meet all the dogs we come accross and generally try to get the other owners confirmation their dogs are friendly (for what that's worth sometimes) before allowing a meeting. Even in pet stores

Poor Ace. That woman should have apologized. When we are on leash my greeting is a nod of my head at the other owner and a "Macy walk" command as we breeze on by.

I hope Ace is feeling better! I'm so sorry this happened to you both. I also can't believe that the woman didn't say anything or apologize.

On another note, Ace is a beautiful pup!

Sorry it happened. The other dog may or may not have been an "aggressive" dog. I always work under the premise that ALL dogs bite. I would be amazed if Sam bit but he's a dog so he might given the right circumstances. That's their defense and they pick up on things that we don't so it can be hard to determine the trigger.
