Some photos from the first weeks—

I posted a few photos in my introductory post, but here are a few more. The first is from when the gal was about 8.5 weeks; the second w/ a friend's toddler, at about 10 weeks; the third from about 11.5 weeks; and the last from last Friday, at a bit under 16 weeks—from her puppy class, proving that she isn't *always* just staring lovingly at you.

The one with the toddler—as much as she will practice bite inhibition with us, she didn't for a second with the little one; she's a lamb with infants and young children—melts my heart. It's as though they are sharing "Yes, I'm a toddler too."

One more from tonight, meeting our friend's border collie for the first time. The border (whom I've known since he brought him home) is a brilliant, beautiful, lovely dog, who often doesn't like puppies or kids. But they did pretty well together, and even played a bit.

Her name is Hokule'a—it's Hawaiian for "Star of Gladness," the name for Arcturus, which was the main navigational star for the Polynesians—but her call name is Hoku (long -o- and long -u-).

It's a very simple name for people from Hawai'i (I am), but it kind of confounds most people the first time they hear it. But she is, indeed, a very happy little star, and so much fun.
