    Lucky Penny (Lily's Litter)

If you have seen my post of "Lily and her Litter" in the Lab Photos.... here is one of my runts. In fact, she is currently the only one without a home as hers fell through. Kind of hard to give this one up! Nicnamed her Penny, as in Lucky Penny, as she (and her sister Grace) were only 5.2oz each upon birth and were bottle fed. This one was born in my kitchen, into my hand, as I caught her when Mama got up and took off on me mid-whelping. Pups are 8 weeks tomorrow, and 8 of the 12 are making their ways to their new homes by tomorrow night. Should be a nice, quiet weekend! (And yes, the last photo is today, at work! Gotta love a great boss!)

I took in Penny's Mom, Lily, in December. I had no idea that on top of her many other issues (ear infection, fleas, poor diet, hair loss, and many small infected lesions) that she would also be pregnant. Under 3 years old and it was her 3rd pregnancy. It has been quite an adventure. Mama will never have to worry about it again though! She will be getting spayed as soon as the vet clears her. We are keeping one of the big boys from the litter, and if I were able, I'd keep this girl too!

Where are you in Michigan? I have a lot of dog-friendly family there. I'm not sure if anyone is looking right now, but I can check!
