    Brooks - 11 weeks old

    Brooks has been doing great. House training has been much like it was with Bruce, sometimes he just squats where he's standing and goes. I'm starting to think it just takes longer for boys to get it. Basic training is going very well, sit, down, stand, and heel are coming right along. He really wants to please and will follow me all over the yard. I'll walk out of sight behind the shed, and he comes RUNNING to find me. Brooks is a very typical happy, eager to please puppy. He and Sophie are getting along well, although he will do his best to torture her, and she is so patient with him. Her level of maturity is really evident in comparison of two years ago with Bruce. We've had a couple cases of zoomies with the two of them, which is very cute, but I scoop Brooks up to make sure he doesn't get hurt. I know Sophie so well, I can tell right when she will zoomie.

    Overall I could not be happier with Brooks and the progress he has made so far. I weighed him today, 20.1 pounds. Still a bit smaller than Bruce was at the same age, but not far behind. He has a great personality, and is a very motivated retriever. Sometimes I can't believe how hard he goes when I toss something for him.

    He's discovered helping with the dishes, and is doing a great job helping Sophie with pre-wash!
