We drove for 8 hours on Saturday to Minnesota. We met with our breeder, enjoyed some tasty beverages, went over the paperwork and fine details, and found out which boy is ours. Blue collar boy is our new little man! We picked him up Sunday morning and proceeded home.....another 8 hours. Bear was whiny at first, which is very understandable. Soon, he fell asleep in my arms and spent the entire drive cuddled up with me. We stopped a few times, but he never had to go to the bathroom. Last night we did an introduction with the two. They are in love with each other. Maverick wants to play, but is being very mindful of Bear's size. We've also been calling him Mama Maverick. I think he feels like Bear is his baby. He gives me his "I gotta go out" look when he thinks Bear has to go out. He comes running over if Bear wanders under the deck. He has been waking me up when Bear whines. He is being such a good big brother. Bear loves Maverick as well. He likes playing and isn't comfortable unless Maverick is near. Last night was rough for Bear. He was so wound up from the travelling that he didn't want to go to sleep. He likes to lay around in the grass instead of pee on it. I think he's already had more accidents in the house than Maverick ever had. He's about a week younger than Mav was when we got him. Mav was always a lot more needy and a very needy pup. Bear is more stubborn and independent, but is very loving and cuddly. He was chosen for us because he "is so much like Maverick".
Now for the details:
Whelping Date -- 07/04/2016 at 12:58pm
Whelping Order -- #1
Weight at Whelping -- 13.9 oz
Weight as of 08/26/2016 -- 17 pounds
To put this in perspective, we picked Maverick up at 8 weeks and 4 days. He went to the vet at exactly 9 weeks. At 9 weeks, he weighed 15 pounds. Bear's dad is a big, tall, muscular boy (not fat) weighing in at 93 pounds. I don't know his mother's weight, but I'm guessing that in optimal condition she's around 70 pounds. Bear was not the biggest when he was born, but he took the lead at 3 weeks and never looked back.
Introducing Hayshaker Grizzly Adams, aka Bear.
Taken this morning, on his 8 week birthday
Soaking up the cool grass. It was nice and wet this morning. Now it's really muggy and gross out...
He was licking my feet.

Pretty puppy! Enjoy these first days when Bear is little. They grow so fast! One day you blink and your 17 lb. puppy is a 50 lb. puppy and growing!

Yes we did! I don't know where you're at in the state, but we were pretty far west, almost in South Dakota.
Hello cousin Tickle! My parent's own one of Tickle's half brothers. A little boy from her last litter.
Mav and Bear have the same Great-Great Grandfather, so that's pretty neat.
