Ferris is starting to get out into the world. Very small outings every day. We've gone to Hobby Lobby, the local hardware store, and today, my daughter's elementary school. Our big focus now is loose leash walking, which as you guys know, is a challenge at this age! But I know with lots of patience and practice (and let's be honest, treats!) he'll get there. The other challenge is people swooping in to pet him when he's wearing his vest, which I totally understand, but I am not supposed to allow!
Ferris starts level two of puppy class tomorrow (he missed the first two weeks but she allowed us to move up anyway, hooray!).
In case you thought guide dog puppies came out behaving like little angels, LOL:
Yep, he just hopped right up on the table! (And notice the madly wagging tail, too.)
Here he is in Hobby Lobby yesterday (man was I sweating bullets, but we survived!):
And here's Ferris today at a meeting at the elementary school. Since he's only 13 weeks, I bring a chew for him so he can settle more easily. We stayed 30 minutes and he did really well!
Being at school was exhausting, and now he's completely sacked out, LOL! Rough life.
It's been a great adventure so far!

So cute! Sounds like he is learning rapidly, ah, minus the trip to the table.

You must be having fun with him. Are people allowed to pet him when you take him out? I think when he is older and working they are not?

If he is wearing his yellow vest, people are not supposed to pet him, but of course that's easier said than done! While we were at Hobby Lobby, an employee did a "drive by" snuggle. It was fast and I didn't say anything. That might end up being the most difficult part of this job, LOL!Are people allowed to pet him when you take him out? He looks great in his vest!!! Very professional!
I know how hard it is to ask people not to pet, and I don't have a vest for mine. It seems like every time we're out in a public place, someone will ask if they are being trained to be service dogs. I guess it's just so uncommon for the average pet owner to seriously train their dogs.
