    Christmas Tree and ornaments

How do u keep them off.my last puppy was a mini doxy so obviously we just put everything 10 inches from the bottom.

Give me ideas. She is all confused at the plastic tree and we have not gotten the ornaments yet and worried.

Put an x-pen around the tree. Before dogs, for a few years I put the tree inside a playpen to keep DD out.

Also going to pick up vinegar and. Apple Vinegar and spray the bottom . This mixed 1 to 3 worked great for wires..let see if it still works .

I guess I'm fortunate that my dogs mostly leave the tree alone after a thorough sniffing. I put it up and let it stand there for a day or 2 without decorations so they can sniff around it and get it out of their system (I'm talking about a live tree). I secure the tree to something behind it to make it less tippable- like tying some twine or light wire from the tree to a window latch or a nail or Command hook on the wall behind it. I'm careful to hang ornaments that won't break down where their tails might hit them. No gifts under the tree until Christmas Eve or whatever the night before gift exchange happens to be and the dogs are behind baby gates in the kitchen. My dogs think all boxes are theirs to open.

Never had any trouble with the dogs and the Christmas tree but Oban was so young, 10 weeks, for his first Christmas he was closely suprevised all the time anyway. Cats and trees are a whole different story. Cats are the worst.

I do the same as Sue, I let the dogs thoroughly investigate the tree, then decorate. I let them look at the ornaments too, but do an "AH-Ah" when they get too close, they get the idea pretty quickly and leave it alone. :-)

She has kept away , but as the kids were decorating she was more interested in the little ornaments especially the minion ones . We went to the dog park and she is passed out now and will be home all alone as we go to a Christmas party . Going to put the small fence and hope the best

I've never had any problems other than the occasional tail knocking one off. I've always had a real tree too.
This will be Bauers first christmas with me so i'm not quite sure how he will be with ornaments but so far he has left the real tree alone so i'm not worried.
interesting who some dogs are crazy into the tree and others act like it isn't there

She ignores the tree completely now especially considering she is allowed off crate now as she is 10 months for hrs alone in the house.
