That day cannot come soon enough! I can't imagine what it will be like to use the words "good" and "Chester" in the same sentence...

Thor is almost 6 months old. I'm starting to get the occasional "oh, you meant off NOW? I thought you meant after I finished chewing on the remote". And "sure, I'll come, when I feel like it." I used the phrase "your dog is being a turd!" to my husband yesterday for the first time ever. As a joke, but still - I see it coming. You'll have to tell me when it gets better!

Funny, about two weeks ago I created a bedtime song for Maggie. The chorus goes, "I can't wait to put you in your crate."

Funny, when we say "good boy" to Bobby, he takes it as permission to misbehave! But yes, can't wait until this phase is over.

Molly does that too! It's like "good girl" means stop being good and do whatever possible to get in trouble!

I remember coming across a 4 year old Lab on one of our walks when Bobby was 4 months. We were prying open his mouth to get the tissue out and I remember seeing and hearing his owner laugh across the street. They came over and we had a real fun time talking about our Labs and how his was a little rascal as a puppy too. The tissue eating, carcass smelling and devouring, misbehaving, all of it! Now, his Lab is so well behaved!

We came across other Lab owners at pet stores too and we often talk about them as puppies and how much of a troublemaker they were. They've all said that they've matured with age and they are the "best dogs" and how everything pays off in the end. Always have a good laugh when we talk about how destructive they can be. I remember a 6 year old Lab was running loose with a wiggling butt and tail that was ready to knock down shelves. We thought he was around 10 months old! He was a hilarious fella, that's for sure.

Bobby has always been a scallywag so none of this is coming as a shock to us. The mischief in his eyes is unbelievable. He's lucky he's cute and knows just when to use that smile of his! I swear, it's like he understands human language. Sometimes when we've had a bad day, we joke that Bobby won't ever get off leash freedom or we wont feed him for a day and he starts barking back in protest!

I'm looking forward to the day when this happens to us. But for the meantime, I guess we've just got to hang in there and have a sense of humour about his antics.

    My Moses is 11months old
    You wanna talk defiant...
He not only barked and jumped when you tired to correct him he would nip,,plus the bark seemed like a mean bark
This lasted 4 months to 7 months ( this time period tortured and haunted me) that is why I started with forums to find answers..and do the best I can for Moses.
Tried everything...Moses had 3 training classes (Puppy, Beginner,Adult) 1 private
I would pick everyone's mind how to correct..one day around late March things got better..
Now in the last 2 weeks I see some bad tendencies again.
    You are not alone

Yup, they have good and bad days.

Much like my furless kids sometimes I want to put them all in a crate and leave for a few hours.

When either kids or dogs are crazy we go for a walk. Sometimes it is 20 minutes. Others its a 2 hour walk / romp in the forest.
