Samson is NOT impressed with Asher.

Asher came home Saturday!! He is simply adorable and I am in love with the little guy. Young Oliver (7 month old Kitty) and Mr. Skylar (14 yr old kitty) have accepted Asher. Mr. Samson - well, not so much. Samson growls and scowls at Asher. It's been 3 full days and I have seen improvement in Samson. Asher can actually look at Samson without making Samson growl. :-) I am taking it very easy, no pushing, and giving Samson as much positive reinforcement as possible. Samson can sniff Asher without growling now and at times I think he forgets to growl but then once he realizes it, he growls. I am crating Asher and when he is not in the crate, laying on the couch with me or in my arms. Samson stays in close proximity. While on the floor playing with Asher, Samson will come over but he growls. Samson will lay down beside us. I make sure I have a toy for Samson to play and my other hand occupied with Asher. I never allow Asher to get close to Samson. At the same time, when Samson is not growling, I say the "good boy, give me kisses, etc" to let Samson know he's good. If he growls, I just tell him enough...and it's ok.. I get the flat ears and he big tail wags like he understands what I mean but still confused at why mom has done this to him. If anyone has any tips on how I can help Samson along that would be much appreciated. I can see improvement that's for sure.

Samson is now the jealous big brother He'll accept him, give them time. Welcome, Asher!

I agree. Samson is confused and unsure. If you keep doing what you're doing they'll be best buds before too much more time!

Oh, what a cute little bugger. Sounds like you've got a good handle on Samson's attitude/behavior. You have a confused pooch in Samson...not a Cujo...he'll come around.

It's also hard not to spend a lot of time with the new puppy, petting, holding, talking to him. Try to make sure you take some time to go outside just with Samson, or take him on a walk without Asher. Make sure Samson has a place where he can get away from the new little landshark if Asher gets to be too much for him. Hopefully it won't be long until Samson comes around.

    What a little cutie!

Not the best on puppy information. Sounds like you have a handle on the situation; just give it time and be observant.

P.S. the photo of both of them on the sofa is just too adorable! Asher looks so tiny up there near Samson. And Samson, "If I ignore him, maybe he'll go away."

Little Asher is a massive snuggler! I have been making a special point to snuggle with Samson and lay on the floor with him and play (I put asher in the crate/xpen area). I take Samson in the kitchen for some apple snacks. Also, lots of extra snuggles in bed! He's definitely coming around but we have a ways to go..
