8 weeks? Hehehe you ain't seen nuthin' yet LOL Seriously though, the 8 week lovely dovey stage is my favorite, and the bonding done at this age. The toddler and teen months are the really challenging times.

I raised two littermates and it is really hard, they need to do everything separately, crate training, potty training, obedience training, car rides, socialization, etc... etc... etc... I won't say that I won't do it again, but it takes a lot of dedication.

I got Rocket Dog somewhere between 6 and 7 weeks. She did fine... BUT #1 we had two grown dogs in the house to keep her in line a bit and #2 she turned out to be dog-aggressive as she grew into adolescence. Maybe related to #1. Or maybe she was going to be that way no matter what. She was the most dominant pup in her litter of 9.

Long way to say, if it hadn't been for the exigencies of Christmas and jobs and so on and so on... I'd have left her with the dam another week or two.

BUT, she's still a great dog. Just took some extra work down the line.
