    Leave me Alone

    Moses is 11 months
When I work in the yard he will not leave me alone.
    Example .
    - I'm pulling weeds and his nose it right by my hand
    - Then once pulled he thinks he wants the weeds
    - He won't leave me alone

I really hate to cage him ..really never cage him when i am @ home. Plus he has no problem going in the cage on a normal routine, but would have a hissy fit if I tried to cage him when was pulling weeds or working outside

How do you think I should handle this..?

Have to laugh, Archie is exactly like that. He has to walk through the garden, wash my face and if I try to move him aside, he goes into butt tucking mode.

How about getting a favorite toy and throwing it. I've just decided my garden may not look the best this year but Archie and I sure have fun.

You can also work on sit stay or down stay with frequent breaks.

I am going to be no help here. Honestly can not remember the last time I did anything alone. There are always 2 black dogs involved in everything I do. Occasionally, if I really need to get something done without "assistance" I bribe my 2 with a turkey neck or other tasty treat.

I was going to say a bone to chew on too.

Oban is not so bad but poor little Jet insisted on being where ever I was. I might be weeding in the garden and she'd lie at the end of the row, full out in the hot sun. "Go and lie in the shade." I'd tell her but she wouldn't. I put her in the house so she wouldn't cook. She didn't need to be crated though, I could leave her alone loose in the house.

that's a lab for ya! Give him something else to do that's even better. Kong, bone, etc.

No help here. Can't do anything without a little golden pup following me - apparently everything is a group activity now. But if I really need time alone, I fill a kong will everything delicious and that keeps him occupied (I know when it's empty though because he is right back next to me again!)

Labs love company but you can teach them to lie down and wait till you're free. Mine two know "stay" very well and as long they can see me they'll wait to be allowed to come to me. Gardening is very good opportunity to practise in nice environment
At first you're more with the dog(s) than doing what you were supposed to do as they require 99% of your attention but with time they'll get what you expect them to do.

No help here, either....I am apparently not even able to go to the bathroom or tie my shoes unassisted.

Labs are a big help that way. Maybe make outside garden time the time the dog gets a nice marrow bone for chewing.

Yeah I'm no help either. I just refuse to crate them when I feel they could be having fun. When they come over & start licking my face I remind myself how lucky I am to have them in my life Toss a ball or Frisbee. Take a moment to sit & let them show you some fun
