Things are improving but we are still not completely there. It’s not helped by her having the runs quite often. I phoned the breeder and he advised putting a third rice with her food. Well that’s not really cured it so I am thinking of just putting her on chicken and rice ...maybe kibble is not for her . She is 14 weeks now

Have you had the vet examine a stool sample? It could be something like giardia causing the diarrhea ...
Also, sometimes overfeeding can cause soft stools as can an overly rich food with lots of ingredients.

Her stool was soft but ok this morning . She is a typical lab pup anything and everything goes in her mouth ☹️ I hope I am not over feeding. She always appears raveneous but again that’s a lab for you. I feed her skinners for working dogs so any opinions on that would be welcome. I must say she appears healthy in every other respect

I'm not familiar with Skinners so I had to look it up. Is this the food the breeder sent her home on? Is she on a puppy formula or is the food she's eating appropriate for all life stages? I'm just asking because puppy formulas of food do have more controlled calcium and phosphate levels and ratios that adult formulas sometimes do not. Most on here will recommend that you stick with the food the breeder sent them home on so their immature digestive systems don't get put through too many changes, which can lead to loose stools. While she's this young her bones are still growing and her teeth forming so I wouldn't put her on plain chicken and rice for long since the other vitamins and minerals won't be there to support her growth. About how much is she eating per day?

At about your girl's age my little girl puppy, who was eating exactly the food she came home eating, had a bout of loose stools. I took her to the vet and she ended up getting metronidazole, which cleared it up temporarily, the loose stools came back and she got another round. They never found giardia or any other cause. The vet said I could switch food but since she was eating what the breeder fed her and she didn't have diarrhea when she came home from the breeder, I didn't think it was the food and I did not switch. Some others on here have had loose stool issues with their pups about Nellie's age as well, some a cause was found, some not.

Yes this was what the breeder sent her home with.i have emptied the sack so I am unsure whether it was specifically for pups. She is 10 kilos and I have just upped her food to 60 er serving . I have been giving her a third rice but have just cut the rice out today to see oi that makes a difference. I suppose it is natural for her stools to be soft as she is so young. My last lab was a rescue and older so I haven’t had a lab pup before

So at 22 pounds (if I did the math right) your puppy is on the average of the growth curve for lab puppies, if on the high side. She's certainly getting enough calories. On the bright side, every stool, every urge to pee is an opportunity to scoop her up and get her outside so she can learn how HAPPY everyone is when she does her business in the right place.

Thats an interesting chart, how did you compile the data?
jett is at about 18 lbs at 10 weeks. We weren't feeding him enough for a couple of days bc we were trying to figure out why he was pooping so much.
Jert was pooping 2,3 one night 5 times in his crate and the vet put him on antibiotics. One dose and he slept thru the night - no poop. We had a lot of standing water in our backyard and we think he drank some of it and got some bacteria that way. He has been good ever since!
