Glad to hear the cover helped your pup feel more secure in his crate. Hoping it continues and pup sees the crate as a safe place 24/7.

I added a cover to the crate on 3 sides and it's done wonders at night. Goes right in it with minimal to no crying at all these past two nights. It doesn't do the trick during the day but it seems to be better than before and makes him at least calmer.

I would say just be strong and patient. Do not go into the room until crying has stopped. It took Bacon 3 ish weeks before he was doing pretty well on his own in the crate. He was always good at night, it was daytime that was difficult for him. However, now he is a champ. Have faith! It will get better!!!
Glad to hear that covering the crate has helped at night. Good Luck!!!

Tucker (14 weeks now) has finally started enjoying his crate. We leave the door open when we are home and he will go in and sleep. Having a comfy bed in there I think helped and so far I have not seen signs of destruction to it. I also played (soft) music during the day but in the beginning at night too. He loves treats and I would put a couple of kibbles in his bed to get him to go in. I heard that you never force your dog but get him to go in to the crate on his own. I also put some of his toys in there too. I think this helps. The crate has been the best thing for potty training and keeping him safe. I used it on my previous lab who recently passed and had good results. I think the key is don't give in to the whining as long as you know they don't need to go to the bathroom. Good luck and hang in there it will pay off.
Wonderful! So glad the crate cover helped.
