Biting is so frustrating!!!!

How long did you apply this schedule? It seems like a lot of sleep. Maybe Rosie does not nap long enough? How much sleep should a 13 week old pup should be getting during the day?

I should explain that when I refer to free run of the basement, I mean Rosie has no restrictions in our large basement and we play with her there because we can play fetch and chase her toys. She definitely is getting exercise. We don’t leave her to play on her own. She is currently restricted to the kitchen only when we are upstairs.

Stormy’s at 18 weeks and is still on this schedule during the week, although she gets out at 3 pm now. She has to get vigorous exercise and mental stimulation, though. Any chance for doggie play dates, or visiting pet friendly stores?

Rosie has not had all her shots yet so we can’t do daycare or anything like that yet. She goes to vet tomorrow for vaccinations and is starting puppy obedience class this week. We have taken her to the local pet store a number of times keeping her in the cart.

things got a lot easier once we could take Stormy out and about. Fingers and paws crossed the same is true for y’all.

Try dealing w/ the obnoxious behavior silently. Puppy starts to bite, w/o making a noise, put her into crate-- preferably where it's out of sight, and where you can darken the room. It's obvious to me that she wants some kind of validation, even if it's negative. I'd never feed the behavior. I just had this discussion w/ the family of a 9 mos old Rottie pup who is still biting and acting out like a brat because they admitted it was cute when she was 10#. Now she's 75 or so.

So happy for you. Sounds like you found a good trainer. Be strong!

OK, I'm not a trainer and I've not had a puppy who bites like that. But I have to wonder, why let her have the first two bites? When you know she is a biter? Me, I'd put her in the crate the first time, hoping to signal NO BITES, NONE. None, never, end of game.

You're right. I'd probably ask once, if I get no response w/ that, off to the crate we'd go. That's how we handle refusals in the field. Give the dog the opportunity to be correct first.
