    We’re having issues

Since we got Thor we have been working with him and adding treats to his bowl while he eats. It was going fine initially but he’s becoming more growly and today he snapped at my DH. DH reacted poorly and popped him on the snout which I told him to NEVER EVER do again. Now my mother in law is saying he’s aggressive. He also growls over the water bowl. And he barks goes crazy when he doesn’t get his way.

I honestly don’t know what to do. What I’ve read for years on what to do isn’t working with him. Feeling pretty defeated and now I’m worried to death that I have an aggressive dog.

I am no expert but my opinion is to leave the dog eat when you let him eat. I've never messed with my dog's bowl after I've given him the "go". I'd just let him eat with no other humans or dog around, and no treats in the bowl. I've heard people saying put your hand in the dog's food, take his bowl etc, but I think this is the exact thing that may make a non food-aggressive dog food-aggressive.

He does it to the water bowl too and that is unfortunately something that he is going to have to share with the others so that is why I am concerned

I’ve never taken his bowl away after I’ve given it to him. Most of the time I feed him in his crate with the door closed.

Can you put a couple of water bowls? How does he react when other dogs come near when he is eating or drinking?

He drinks all the water so the others can’t have any. I added another water bowl so that he realizes that the water is plentiful and that has helped him not gorge.

If he is there first and the others approach he growls.

If they are there first, he will insert himself, essentially blocking them from accessing the water and proceed to drink it all. Daisy usually gives up and walks away or stands there and waits till I refill it.

Maybe someone with more experience will chime in, but I'd probably ask a trainer to evaluate him and go from there. This could become an issue especially since you have other dogs.

It sounds like you have done the early suggestions in this article. I'm putting it here anyway as Doggone Safe has trainers around the world and maybe it would be a good idea to contact one. Every method there is will have a failure somewhere, unfortunately might just be your bad luck.

Im sure you have tried trading the bowl of food or water for a higher reward. or rewarding thor while the others are drinking. What happens when you are giving everyone treats?

Maybe check in with Thor's breeder, just to keep him/her in the loop, and see if they have any suggestions.
