I think voodoo's got it right- the vet's office is just WAY too exciting. Our rehab vet often runs behind and at the ripe old age of 9, Kimber is better off waiting in the car with me instead of waiting inside!
I am jealous. Chili is in a phase right now where he likes to lunge with his mouth during play. those teeth hurt! he doesnt bite/clamp down, but its definately a phase I have never seen before. I think he is trying to challenge me for top dog if he keeps this nonsense up, he's going to boarding school for a week

I had to smile as I've ready through this post. Bruce just turned 6 months, and has been really good so far, but he is starting to show signs of the dreaded teenage phase. I'm not looking forward to the next few months!!! UGH!!!!!!!!!!!!
Still loving these responses. Those goofballs!
We just got back from a four day camping trip where Thor got to experience a few off-leash hikes (his obedience is great off-leash in open land, so he has a lot of freedom and loves it), hang out with our friend's dogs, and meet a bunch of people. He was an angel the whole time! I'm sure he's just saving up for the next visit to the vet, or the pet store, or some other public location where he can embarrass me.
Per the vet visits... DEFINATELY go regularly!! We stop in all the time to practice not being a spaz. Practice SITTING at the door, waiting until the OK is give. Go inside and SIT off to the side for a few minutes. Get weighed. Then we SIT in the reception area while action goes on all around. 15 minutes later, I thank them and we go to another store.
At 3 years old, Sunshine STILL sucks at it!! BUT!! I am not about to give up trying. There is a calm, well behaved lab in there somewhere, I have seen glimmers of it!
THAT is my Sunshine! At home (inside or out), off leash at the lake, off leash at parks, off leash at friends parties, even with lots of dogs and people... She is PERFECT! Folks even think I have some kind of remote control on her. Vet or pet store... I am so embarrassed, folks must think I have no control over this monster. And yes, we leash up at the other places and she is perfect also.
LOL. You have to love labs!
