    Glad Maverick did well!

Just wanted to add that humans often prize this type of freedom more than our dogs do. Many dogs don't mind at all and may actually prefer being crated. We feel bad for them, but they're just planning to sleep while we're gone anyway.

We crated Kimber until she was 2. Now when I leave her for long periods, she's usually at the front window when I leave- and she's there when I pull up. I don't know if she wanders the house while I'm gone but I think there's a good chance she just naps right there on her doggie bed.

We don't mind keeping him crated and he doesn't mind it. Our problem was that we felt like he was spending too much time crated and he was getting restless. He has been getting more exercise and so far so good in the house! Now we just have to work on those darn cats....,

I'm not sure what freedom means becuase Jake is right by our side most of the time. If I don't see him it means I shut the door behind me and left him in a room. He's only had a few major chewing incidents which he lived through, but we keep a lot of chew items around for him and he' been no problem since around 5-6 months.

Mine loves to shred cardboard boxes. And plastic bags. But why would a dog want to eat soap?? I agree so weird!!
