    Been slacking

I have had some seriously stressful weeks and wellMollys selective hearing. I feel like I have been slaking. I am still training everyday just less. The issue I am having at the moment is I tell Molly to sit and she does but now when I tell her to stay and try to give the hand signal she lays down. Can someone please advise should I just Should I reward the sit or have her hold it longer and then say good stay. Or is this one of those selective memory things at the moment.

It's like any behavior you are working on, you enforce and make corrections as needed. They don't get to do what they want. If you want a sit/stay and she lays as you walk away, you walk right back and correct. Don't treat until she does it correctly. If you have to shorten up the duration/distance you are using until she starts cooperating, do it. You are dealing with a teenager, and she's going to push you. These phases, while frustrating, do pass. Don't be frustrated buy this, it's all part off the process.

I know what you are going thru. Our Rosie is around the same age as Molly. You said "drop it", nah I'll run around you. You said "leave it", nah I'd rather have it. The joys of raising a puppy!!!!

    Agree with Barry.

She could also be confusing the stay hand signal for the down signal. Make sure she knows which is which and you make them obviously different. My down and stay hand signal used to be similar, so I changed my down hand signal. Which worked out because it was easier to see from a distance.
