Welcome! Everyone above has given great advice, so I'm not going to reiterate that. But I did notice your comments about the crate and wanted to give some, hopefully helpful, tips. Our second lab (an 8 month old tasmanian devil) absolutely hated being in a crate. She would cry whenever we would leave the room and would body slam against the door to try to get out. We used a wire crate (with an adjustable divider to help with potty training), but we put a blanket over the sides, so she felt like it was her den. We also hand fed her meals in the crate to get her to like it. FWIW, hand feeding a puppy meals also helps with bite management - you'll still get quite a few nips, but you can yell "ouch!" so that your puppy knows to learn to be gentle. For months, we would give her a high value treat (freeze dried beef liver) whenever she went into the crate. She only gets that liver when she goes in her crate. Additionally, whenever we left her at home, we would put a kong that we had stuffed with peanut butter and kibble into the crate with her. I'd recommend buying a couple of Kongs so that you can stuff and freeze a few of them - a frozen Kong takes a lot longer for a pup to go through. If your pup is bitey, you may want to add another safe toy (a different rubber Kong or an elk antler-type bone) so he has something to chew on. Just make sure whatever you leave in the crate is safe for the puppy and not something that can be broken and ingested. For my dogs, that means no plush toys, because those get disassembled rather quickly!
Good luck! I'm sure Baron will turn out to be a wonderful dog. The first few puppy months are tough, but so worth it in the long run.

I second the Puppy class. ASAP. He needs mental stimulation.... which reminds me, I have 2 about the same age needing some "mental stimulation" right now.
Be sure he has a health check first though--- he will likely need a combo vaccine and bordetella before going to puppy class. Hope the eye watering thing is minor but you may need to see a specialist if it has anything to do w/ entropian or extra eyelashes or tear duct issue. Anne

One new problem, he bites the wires of the kennel!!

We are putting his food dish into the kennel and he eats his meals in there. I will try the hand feeding too. That is a great idea!! Thank you very much.

    I'll be back!

Thanks for all the information. I'm reading all the posts when I get time. He's asleep now, it's been a rough morning. Whew! I made it though. So did Baron.
