    Doesn't Like Comb or Brush

I could use some advice in getting our Rosie accustomed to a brush or comb. Whenever I take out the brush or comb she wants to try to eat it. She doesn't growl or bark but she will not stay still to give her a good grooming. When she is very tired I can get a quick comb or brushing in but that's it.

Gosh, just the opposite here. Mardi and Archie push each other aside to be first in line for a brush.

What type of brush are you using? Many here, including me, use a Zoom Groom. It really helps release the undercoat without damaging the top coat. I use a Bamboo brand come with rotating tines held at about a 45 degree angle to finish up.

Put Rosie on a leash. Of course, you have a youngster full of labbiness. I make it a no nonsense session, like clipping nails. Archie will get a little antsy and keep turning until I tell him to stand still.

    Good luck.

Oh i remember those days, Zoey was quite wild when it came to grooming time. I used treats of course and kept her on a leash. It took time but she calmed down. She still occasionally tries to bite the brush if she is in a playful mood

Leash, treats, short sessions. She'll grow out of it.

Oliver also hates the brush. It's like wrestling an alligator just trying to get any extra hair off. I just gave up on brushing. I will rake my fingers through his fur and he appears to love that so I guess that is the way to go...

Mocha wanted to eat the brush, too. Everything is a toy We are consistent with sit and leave it. I make it worse for myself when I brush him outside, because there's all the distraction of being outside. But then the hair floats away outside. He settled down a bit but it is still a struggle sometimes. We mostly use the zoom groom. During coat blowing season, we also use the furminator.

Rosie will be ok if I do that as well but would really like to be able to brush/comb her especially when she really starts to shed. Life with a Lab!!!!

Forgot about that. Mardi also loves me rubbing my fingers through her fur, in both directions. It's amazing how much fur can be loosened up, then a quick combing. Mardi cannot stand for extended periods of time so on sunny days I'll do the finger rubs and then get her up for the combing.
