    From Pride to Annoyance

I’ve never experienced the joy of watching my son take his first step, but I imagine seeing Onyx on furniture for the first time is similar to what parents feel when their babies begin to walk.

Onyx was out of sight and very quiet Sunday morning, so I knew he was up to something. I found him in the living room lying innocently on the sofa. I couldn’t believe that the tiny puppy I brought home 6 weeks ago was big and strong enough to jump up on the sofa. It was the cutest thing ever. Then he made his way onto the chaise lounge in my bedroom…and then…he went AIRBORNE.

Onyx started leaping from my chaise to my bed. The first few times it was funny. But at 3am when I was sound asleep then suddenly wakened by a 22 pound ball of blackness landing on my bed, it wasn’t so funny anymore. I tried moving the chaise further away so he couldn’t make the leap, but he barked until I gave in and put him on the bed with me. I wanted to go back to sleep but he wanted to play…he eventually settled down but man oh man, this little guy is something else!

You're awfully brave letting him out of your sight like that! Keep the camera handy.

lol you are on a slippery slope giving into him that much. I know it is cute now, but it wont be later on when it is a 65lb dog jumping on you wanting to play in the middle of the night.

That's what I always say with my puppies -- it's like my mantra: If it's not cute at 80 lbs, it's not cute now!

I'm learning. The fact that he was on the sofa not doing anything was actually the best case scenario. He could have been chewing/destroying something again. LOL

No, that won't be cute at all. LOL He knows I'm a pushover and I definately need to be more firm with him.

It is always hard. And everyone is different on what the allow and what they don't. Just remember it's a marathon not a sprint. Just don't let him get away with everything
