I think you need to re-read this entire thread as well as the one you started addressed to new members. If that doesn't help you I give up. It is beyond crazy to keep beating this to death.

Actually I had to use the shortest (~6") spoon I had for Ruby and she's pretty small still. I bet the 12" spoon dropped straight down would work great for yours. I started experimenting w/ it today... we shall see if my teething little terd puppy can do better next week at class.

holy moly.
gone for 6 months and i missed all of this.
there , fyi, are also schools of thought, that say using a harness actually encourages pulling.
think of seeing eye dogs, trained to pull their owners, and they use a harness. leashes are for off duty free time.
can you tell i've owned dogs from guiding eyes?
That's a good example bett. Of course Guide Dogs etc use harnesses for that reason-- because the dogs NEED to LEAD the person. Maybe that's why they start training the puppies w/ the gentle leader/ muzzle harnesses too??? I for one have never had a desire to even try one of those on my pups since they look uncomfortable as heck, but Petsmart etc sure sell a lot of them it seems. Those and those silly stretchy leashes I'm seeing more and more of. What on earth that teaches a dog other than it's got control is beyond me.

The flexi leads are dangerous besides encouraging bad behavior. I saw one snap and pull all the way out without warning once. The dog on this lead was all over me and my dog in a second with no way for the owner to control it. The dog just kept ripping the leash part through the owners hands and Emma and I were in a tangled mess from all the leash, on the ground. It was a huge mess, thank goodness there were not worse injuries than what actually happened.
