By travel crate, do you mean a fabric, collapsible crate or something else? My 2 have been OK in a fabric travel crate in hotels or family homes for a while but neither of them would have been OK with them when they were under about a year old. Chase managed to chew on and mangle a zipper, it only took a tiny opening for him to get the zipper open enough to chew. He also tore up the liner in the bottom of the crate. Lark hasn't really been a crate destroyer so she might have been OK a bit younger. It could depend how chill Molly is in the crate, you might want to try it out ahead of time.

“Because of the dog's joyfulness, our own is increased. It is no small gift. It is not the least reason why we should honor as well as love the dog of our own life, and the dog down the street, and all the dogs not yet born. What would the world be like without music or rivers or the green and tender grass? What would this world be like without dogs?”

Yeah that is exactly what I mean by travel crate. Great Idea I am going to set it up in the house and test her out in it for the next few days.

If you have the room take her regular crate along, just to be on the safe side. Otherwise you may end up buying one during your travels! What will Molly be secured in during travel in your vehicle?

if you have room for her usual crate i'd recommend bringing that. especially if you plan to leave her crated in a new place (and you leave). Being in a new place with new sights, smells, sounds and just the entire trip can offset a dog (it does for us humans too!) so even if she wouldn't push out of it at home, she could potentially try when in a new place. Plus having "her" crate would at least give her a familiar place - rather than yet another change.
