The one in his hind leg is really sore and he is limping Is there anything I can do to helphim feel better?? Of course he didnt start limping until after the vet closed for the day. I feel so bad for him!!!

That's kind of odd, I have never seen them give the shots in the leg only in the back between the shoulder blades. I would keep an eye on him and make sure you let the vet know tomorrow. It sounds like he could be having a reaction to the vaccination. At least that's what I am assuming he got? My boy after every vaccination was spry and normal as ever with no pain or anything. You would definitely want to know for sure for future shots.

Heart worm shots are given in the front leg and some IV's are but never heard of one ever in the hind leg.

He got his last DAPP Puppy shot and Leptospirosis?? I googled it and there are quite a few vaccinations given in the hind leg area. I know his symptoms are common and not a concern in the first 24hrs, I am just curious if there is anything you can do to help them or make it easier for them. Just like babies getting their shots, its hard to see them not feel 100%

I have never had a dog get a shot in the hind leg either. I would definitely call the vet tomorrow and find out what exactly he was given in that area. You could try some warm compresses if he will sit still for it. Poor baby, I hope he feels better soon.

I am pretty sure the shot he got in his leg was for lepto and after reading some of the reviews on this shot I might not have him get it again. Its to protect them from an organism that is spread through water in puddles, contaminated soil and wild animals. We do live in rural farm country so maybe that is the vets reasoning for vaccianting for this?? Not sure but I am going to ask about it!

I do not give Lepto shots. The shot only protects, if I remember correctly, 6 strains and there are many more. I have read way too many things that have convinced me it is an unnecessary vaccination for my dogs.

Yes that is what I am wondering about. Unless my vet knows there are cases here in our area, I don't think it's necessary. I don't pay for it because we do vaccinations for life but still.....if it's not necessary why risk the side effects

I also live in the country but I still will not vaccinate for Lepto. It is definitely something I have argued with my vet about but we just agreed to disagree. I also don't vaccinate every 3 years, except rabies because it is required by law, at least he doesn't argue with me about that, lol!

Do you vaccinate for Lyme disease?

Absolutely not. I use a topical March-October and have never found a tick on either of my dogs. The ticks in my area are horrible and I do find them on myself, I hate those things!
