    What to expect???

So hopefully this doesnt sound silly but is there any type of guide as far as what to expect from your puppy by age?? When you have babies there are all kinds of books on what to expect/milestones. I realize, like babies, they are all different. I am just wondering if we are on track.

The inappropriate mouthing slowed for each of my puppies once they were done teething. Doubling their weight at 4 months of age usually gives you a good idea of their approximate adult weight. Most are potty trained by 4 months but accidents can happen! Expect some issues when they hit 6-9 months, the "teenage" phase can be a challenge. Mine have always slept through the night by 3 months. Those are the few I can think of off the top of my head and of course my own experiences.

Training will be up to YOU! You will get back what you put in. Multiple short sessions that increase in time as the puppy grows and getting in to group classes have been the best things I have ever done.

this. i know some people that have puppies doing more/better behaved at 16 weeks than many do with their adult dogs Also depends on the dog's personality (a breeder was just posting about this on another thread...same upbringing but two puppies were at different stages due to their personality)

Puppies for Dummies outlines what to expect by age. Typically. All pups are a bit different.

Very interesting on doubling the weight! That puts Quincy exactly where we were hoping....around 65lbs. He has rather large feet and and so we were thinking he might be bigger than expected. I will keep my hopes he is on the smaller size
I do try and work with him, to the best of my knowledge. He will sit on command......95% of the time. And we work on stay. I feed him in his kennel and so he will sit and stay there until he is told he can eat. I also put a treat on the floor and have him stay until told. He does pretty good with this but not consistent. We are really struggling with retrieving, he will go for it but just wont bring it back to me. He usually runs right past me. We have just started working on the command drop it, as he has started taking things he shouldnt and trying to turn it into a game. (His favorite thing to steal if the remote control!) And the word off.....I think I say this a million times a day!!!!! lol He is ALWAYS standing up to the counter or the table so he hears off alot!
As far as housebreaking I would say he is just about 99% there. Accidents are few and far between, and usually our fault for not paying close enough attention.
Sleeping all night is great....he just gets up too early for my liking lol He is up by 5-530. The vet said he is getting to the point its probably more because hes hungry than that he has to potty. I have tried yogurt/dog treats before bed and we started feeding him at 6pm rather than 5pm but he still gets up. We are still feeding 3 times a day and most likely will until he s closer to 6 months so I am hoping when he is getting more at 6pm maybe that will help???
One issue we have is he tends to listen to me more than anyone else. Especially my 11 year old daughter.
There are somedays where I think...what have I done??? So it is reassuring to hear that where we are at is "normal" lol

Not good about puppy behavior but what I can tell you, when they get to be seniors, they are the sweetest. I call them the best of the best.

Sorry, that's no help with a pup.
