This is a great example of why it is best to let the breeder pick the right puppy for your lifestyle. They spend 8+/- weeks with the puppies and know their personalities and energy levels. I am actually surprised a breeder would let a child pick out the puppy. Hopefully with some great training classes and some good interactive puzzles and toys you can get some improvement. Good luck to you!

Well, my daughter is 18 so not exactly a child. And it's her dog so she picked the one she liked the best and that came to her and interacted the most. I was kind of joking...he's actually a good dog, just a very energetic and curious little guy.

Baconsmom, thank you! We do have a fenced yard, thank God! And a doggie door so he goes in and out when he wants. One bad thing about the doggie door, he has dragged the water hose in a few times. Thankfully, it was off at the time! We also do short training sessions several times a day. Good tip about the walking times! Our walks are less than 15 mins most times.

OMG, you would think Christmas morning came again!!!! She would run around like a crackhead swinging the whole mess while bouncing off walk and furniture!!! When the pup settled down and starts working on destroying the rope, step in, get on the ground and help them concentrate on the knot, to get it undone. With a little help, Mr. Bunny is FREE! and is now being tossed around the room!! Tie another toy in his place and it is a whole new game.

A plastic yogurt container with a tennis ball stuffed inside it. A tin can with treats in the bottom, with a ball or container jammed into it... After he solves each one, have him bring the individual components to you, and do it again.

Give each game a name and name the components. In short order you can call him, ask if he wants to play 'the stupid rope game'? Then have him go and bring you each part needed as asked for.
LOL! Awesome ideas to entertain both the pup and US!! Thank you!

I had to laugh myself. We could hear some grrrrrs as he pulled it in. He loves playing in the water so I think he's trying to tell me something. I'll take a pic when he does it again!

Here's what Theo did with his baby pool... Dragged it off the patio and into the yard, emptied it, and ran around the yard with it. He does still try to carry it up the steps and into the house. I've tried to fill it a few times, but the results are always the same. Empty and carry, in short order.
