Has anyone purchased a K9 Ballistic Kennel pad or bed??

Quincy has never had a blanket or anything in his kennel because he tears everything up! He is continuously getting up at 5am and will go back to sleep on the couch or carpet for hours after so I am going to try and order one of these kennel pads and see if he is more comfortable in his kennel. Just curious if anyone has had one. They have a 90 day guarantee so I figure I have nothing to lose. lol

We have 2 and like them a lot. Anthony chewed a corner but he's a monstrous chewer and doesn't get his pad if we're not home.

Good to hear! I am debating between the regular kennel mat and the orthopedic. We use a plastic crate and so the regular mat looks like it might fit that better

I looked into them a few weeks ago when deciding on an "indestructible" bed for Murphy. There are really good reviews online for the ballistic beds. It was either the chew proof ballistic bed vs the primo pad. The ballistic bed looks way more comfortable than a mat, though.

I decided to go ahead and purchase the Primo Pad since it was a bit cheaper. He usually rips up a nice bed within the first 10mins, but after he dug at it for a while, he gave up and walked away. He's more comfortable at night and we don't even hear a peep come from that crate until morning.

    Good luck!

I had never heard of the Primo Pad. I ended up ordering the Orthopedic Kennel Pad from K9 Ballistic and I am really anxious to get it and see what he does. I am really hoping this helps him sleep better at night! If he sleeps until 530 am thats late!! UGH! But once he has gone potty and eaten, he is back to sleep for at least 2 more hours on the carpet or the couch. So crossing my fingers this makes his nights more comfy and he doesnt eat it!!!

The primo pad had an optional (but free) lockdown system that came with it. It was basically zip ties that were placed strategically throughout the edges of the pad so the pad would be held down via zip ties and the crate's "metal". Basically, this won't let the dog get a hold of the corner and start chewing.

I would definitely look into something similar for your pup. If you want, I can post a pic of the zip ties so you can get an idea. Not sure if your bed will allow the same sort of thing, but it's worth a try to look into it once it arrives.

Murphy does the EXACT same thing in the morning. He wakes up around 6:15a, eats, goes out, comes back in, trots right back to his crate and goes back to sleep. As much as I'm thankful that he goes back to sleep (and blesses me with an extra 2-4hrs of sleep on days that I don't have class), I still call him a lazy chocolate pup LOL. I've also trained him to go back to sleep in the mornings. There's definitely a difference on days that he doesn't go back to sleep - there's a cranky brown shark running around the living room!

We use a plastic crate so the tie down option wouldnt work for us.
Quincy doesnt go back into his crate in the morning, which is another reason why I think he just isnt comfortable. He just doesnt "love" his kennel like our previous lab did. He doesnt resist gong in there but rarely lays in there on his own. He is very much a people lover though. Always has to be sitting by you, in front of you or on your feet. And I know this could be the other reason he is waking up....hes lonely.
How old is you pup? Quincy is 7 months. He is also a chocolate.

Murphy never goes in his crate on his own to lay down. He's exactly like Quincy - he loves to be around people and always has to be around you. He usually takes his 500 naps a day on the couch or laying on the floor somewhere, but never in his crate (unless I put him in there). Some dogs just like to be in their own "personal space" and others just want to be around you. No matter where I am, he's right up my butt LOL I have to put him in his crate while I shower now because he decided to push the shower door open with his nose and climb in with me. That's only one of the many examples of him wanting to be right by me!

It took me a while to train him to "go back to bed", but it just took repetition. Around the same time each morning, I take half of a treat and tell him to go in his bed (or I just set it in there and then close the door). He learned to just walk in there on his own because if he does, he'll get a treat! For a while at night, I was using the directv app and streaming HGTV so he felt like someone was in there with him (on the lowest volume, of course). This helped him to sleep through the night and feel like someone was there with him. I still do this when I leave for class, go to the store, etc. He's much better at night now.

As I write this, something tells me he isn't tired. I'm currently laying in bed, soaking up the 2 hours I have until I have to officially "wake up". He's digging on his mat and slamming his tail against the sides. Ugh, this little troublemaker!

Murphy is officially 5 months, but he's 22 1/2 weeks right now. No matter how much he bites, digs on his mat, or slams his tail against the crate, I still love him!
