Ever try cardboard in the windows in the room he's in? Used to do that when I worked midnight shift in the summer during college and was going to bed at 7am.

Does not have to be a pup. Archie will keep at it relentlessly until I get up.

Is he crated? How about taking a plain, thin sheet and covering the crate?
Is it possible he needs to eliminate, and maybe take him out later in the night?

I was wondering what time is this cuteness going to sleep? Do you still take him out in the middle of the night? Are you taking him out at 5am and then putting him bk to bed?

No I don't get up in the middle of the night or at 5am ,I let him bark till I'm ready to get out of bed at 6-6:30 am ,I take him for a long walk at night probably about 1-1/2 hours before bed time so he does all his business and tires him out a little bit.Last night I covered his cage with a sheet to block out the morning light but no good ,even on fathers day 5:15 am he started I guess when his internal clock goes off he lets us all know,The trainer wants over $1200.00 so it's something I have to think about and he is kind of far and his hours are during the work week so lots to ponder-fullsizerender-12-jpg

Here's what I found worked for us when Lucy was that age. She was more willing & able to sleep in a bit if she had been taken out for some relief in the middle of the night. I set an alarm for the wee hours, I think about 2:30 - 3:30 or so. I had to be awake for work by 5:30, so I found that I could take her out by 3:00-ish, and go back to sleep for 2+ hours, and that 2 hours would be a long enough period that I felt not sleep deprived. And she was blissfully quiet until then, and then some.

But then, on the weekend, doing the same - meant she was quiet until 7:00 or 8:00, which was a slice of heaven. It was easy on the weekends to take her out for a quick pee at 3, and go back to sleep until 8.
This only went on until her bladder was big enough. I probably did this longer than was absolutely necessary, but you know how hard it is to sleep if you have to go.

What exactly was this trainer going to do for $1200? What type of training methods does he use? I could take 8 or so six week training classes for that kind of money.

What time is your puppy going to sleep at night? He is still young, I agree with the above, he very well need a potty break and a bedtime snack may be very helpful also. If you have already tried these things you are probably going to need to wait it out or just deal with it. Room darkening blinds or shades may be helpful if you think it is the actual sunlight. My youngest does not sleep past 6 - 6:30, he wants breakfast and a potty break. It is a routine that started when he first came home and hasn't changed in almost 4 years. My older girl would sleep until 10 - 11. Some dogs are just very routine oriented. Maxx is at least quiet but hard to ignore his big old head laying on me and the snuffles in my ear if I do try.
