6-1/2 old puppy swallowed a paper towel - suggestions

We've been very careful about Finley swallowing and getting into things. This morning a paper towel fell from the shelf. In spite of trying to get it out of his mouth, he managed to swallow it. We called our vet who suggested we watch him for vomiting, any signs of discomfort & to monitor his stools. He felt it should pass through but we are worried.

Any other suggestions of signs to watch for? Have any of you experienced a pup swallowing a paper towel? I am amazed at how fast he scooped it up before I could pick it up.

Mine have eaten tissues, they have passed. You can induce vomiting with hydrogen peroxide, but if your vet says not to worry, I probably wouldn't.

I would echo your vet's advice. A paper towel should not pose any problems.

Archie loves paper in any form. He eats tissues, paper towels, cardboard. I even have to keep the TP out of reach. It all goes through without a problem. Your pup should be OK.

Same with my pups .... I wouldn’t worry too much about it. Paper is usually digestible.

Thank you everyone. You have really eased my mind. Finley is a real character and keeps us on our toes. It's a relief to know that he should be okay.

Maxx ate enough paper towels, tissues, toilet paper, etc as a puppy he should have pooped paper dolls! He was over 2 before I could put the toilet paper back on the holders in the bathrooms. Every time I tried he found it in 5 minutes or less and went running through the house redecorating! It drove me bonkers but now I can laugh about it! He can still steal a tissue right out of your hand...

Mocha ate 1/2 a sock (among other things) and we found it later in the yard. I would monitor him like the vet advised. I'm a worrier, too. This board really helps keep my worry in check

Mine's 8 years old and he pounces on anything paper that falls to the floor. So far, he's eaten receipts, paper (wrapping paper was particularly fascinating to him), and tissue. I keep an eye on him when he does but tend to think of it as extra fiber. Now when I get asked if I want my receipts stapled, I say no.

I have a 7 month old and him swallowing toilet paper/paper towels is the least of my worries of things he may swallow. I've learned that labs have pretty incredible digestive systems. Keep in mind, if we see our labs swallow something, imagine how much they may get into that we don't catch or see.
