Well- can there be MORE than one Spawn of Satan? Cuz my puppy is only 5mos old and though she isn't "surfing" Yet- she CONSTANTLY jumps up whenever i am at the counter and stands there- especially when i'm making Her food (i still soak her food as she doesn't drink water like a normal dog- she either plays with it or has to be enticed to drink it EVERY day! she chewed/broke the unspillable water bowl- i just bought some new watercooler type to try...) She seems to understands "OFF" but 2 secs after I say it or I put her in a Sit position- she jumps right back up again. I've even tried a Trainer's trick by stepping on her back paw to make it unpleasant for her to stand up there but it also only works for a short time and she has learned to make her stance further out!! She is relentless. I was laughing at some of the replies as i guess there ARE easier puppies and the one i have surely ISN'T one of them- she isn't easy with ANYTHING- not ANYTHING. She is a nightmare. And, yes- we're in classes- she does well other than being the most rambunctious of the group, she has no Off button. This isn't my 1st dog (but it's my 1st and prob last Lab) My next stop is the housebreaking post- she is still having "accidents" which by now "I" feel is ridiculous. I'm wondering if I should've gotten a male??? This IS my 1st Female. Not sure it makes a difference? Anyways- I don't think i want to make her skittish by throwing a loud can at her- that's something we did back in the 70's with pups- she already seems to startle easily. Plus, i doubt it would work- she'd take her chances. She is surely not laid back unless she's on the verge of sleep.
