Cassie and Reba's breeder introduced them to the water before they were 8 weeks old.

i dont think its the age but the way you introduce it. I have brought chili to a river a few times and he loved getting in the water, but wouldnt swim. I am guessing he was scared of the current the river had. I just let him do it his way. I am sure when the time is right, he will swim and since I didnt know what I was doing as a trainer, I am fine with that.

We brought Mara to shallow creeks and streams as early at 10 - 12 weeks old. At first she was nervous and would only get her toes wet and we let her go deeper on her own terms. Now she's part fish and at 9 months she swims in deeper water and retrieves in the ocean and even the swimming pool!
