    Aimee has an identity crisis

So, Aimee is 10 months now and overall she is a pleasure to be around. She generally well behaved as long as she has supervision and lots of reminders. She is a bit hard headed so training can be a challenge. She is definately not like sweet, laid back Zoey

The problem is that I think she assumes she is corgi. She recently started herding the other dogs, my neices and nephews. Aimee and Daisee are inseparable and perhaps she mimics her? Is that possible? She also picked up barking from Daisee but thats not a difficult fix, we are working on the excessive barking.

Its not a huge problem I guess but it does bother me. Any advice on how to stop her? I already have one herding nutcase in my house, I dont want another

No advice but I admit to a giggle...based somewhat on a story I'd read yesterday about a Husky raised with cats with predictable behavioral outcome. Sunnie has a distinct herding nature...observable only with Dan or when allowed to chase things in the backyard...so it's not an issue for us. Good luck.

LOL from me too and no ideas or help but a story. Some ladies from my training group took their dogs to a herding instinct test and the Newfy outshone them all, even the herding breeds. So maybe it's just inherent in some dogs?

No advice, but I grew up with a (best guess) border collie/golden mix and oh boy was he a handful. He was one of those 'lab mix' shelter puppies and we were NOT a family that was prepared to raise a border collie. My parents loved to entertain and whenever people were over that poor dog would go from room to room, trying to herd everyone together. He would be really stressed about it, too - like he knew it was something that he HAD to do but he had no idea why. Eventually my parents figured out that if they confined the party to one room the dog would relax. But heaven forbid someone step out to use the restroom. Max would pace in front of the door until they were back with the 'herd'. We had to work to train out many neurotic behaviors in that dog, but we could never fix that one.

LOL! I used to say that Lily thought she was a lab puppy. She was and still is drawn to yellow labs over other kinds of dogs. Unfortunately she didn't get the memo that labs love water and swimming! She hates getting wet.
