    Crazy tired puppy

So maybe some of you folks have experienced this. Tonight when my wife took Leo inside to put him to bed he got this sudden burst of uncontrollable energy. She said he was literally running so fast that he was running against the backrest of our sectional, then under the table then back for additional laps. I've noticed similar behavior when he is tired also. Is this normal? We let him run out off then he's ready to listen again. But in the moment, nothing seems to stop him.

Yes. It's normal. Zoomies. My adult dogs still do it once in a while. It's fun! Enjoy it while it lasts.

Oh yeah, the Zoomies! Very common in lab puppies, and my guy (at 2.5 years old) still gets them occasionally. We just sit back and laugh and let him run it out.

You can greatly reduce incidents of the zoomies by making sure your pup is getting enough exercise, but even then you are bound to get them from time to time.

He got good exercise today. We spent some time out at a public hunting area that is good for upland hunting. Lots of grass and a cut alfalfa field. He good some good running and exploring in. Got the zoomies once while out there as well. It's funny when he does it and my previous lab would do it now and then, but she had much lower drive than Leo. She was a good companion and great around the house. Easy to train, just not a lot of drive when hunting. Leo is pretty much the opposite. Lol. He's trainable, just requires more pressure then Brooke did. Anyway, thanks for putting my mind at ease. I figured it was normal, just wanted to confirm.

My Hershey enhanced his zoomies with butt-tucking. The first time I saw him do this, my first thought was that he was defective.

At 8 years old Archie still has an occasional zoomie/butt tucking/dog gone crazy episode several times a week. To me it looks like pure joy.

Yep, zoomies. I do not allow them in the house. They often happen when pup has just returned from a long walk, is a bit over tired or is just super happy. Or if there is a big mud puddle on your walk and you are foolishly standing close to it. I stand outside in a safe place where I can't get knocked over and encourage them, "Zoom, go, yay, good boy." Now I can tell him to Zoom. If you are lucky they will last his whole life. You are in for a special treat when you pup sees his first snow, wait till you see the zoomies then.

Lol, Leo has a very nice butt tuck as well. It's hilarious. I guess that's where the phrase " tuck tail and run" comes from.

Our 2 year old Rosie will get the zoomies now and then and I just let it run its course. Most of the time it's fun to watch unless your in her path LOL
