I'm so sorry. Stella had a wonderful life...and I'm sure she was confident that you'd always do the right thing for her, no matter what that was.

Rest in Peace, sweet Stella. Run Free!

Meeps83, thank you. It was and is tough - one of the very few times I've gone back and forth before - yet I think it was the right decision.

Snowshoe, thanks for your request to give peace.

POPTOP/Fran, it definitely was a wonderful life, though exasperating at times early on - my patience was tried several times *grin*. We were definitely fortunate to have her.

zd262, that's right! One of my great discoveries about Stella was that she loved swimming.

jenfarm, thanks. She will keep squirrels, especially the ones far away who *think* they are safe from her quickness and speed, quite alert.

ronmcq, that's my version of heaven.

    coopersmom, we appreciate the hugs.

Tanya, she did have a long life. I'm deeply grateful to have shared so many discoveries with her, and with the board.

    Labradorks, thank you.

katALlabs, I hope she had a great life. She could surprise me, as she did with swimming, and with willingly going almost hip-deep in a snowbank to investigate whatever.

smartrock, we went through many passages. While it's never easy to let go I think she had work to do up ahead.

Berna, thanks. By the way that's a lovely image in your signature.

Sue-Ram, thanks. Stella will rest, and work, rest some, work some.

Sandra, there's a couch with her name on it.

Ruger's Mom, we appreciate your kind thoughts.

LucyTudeOn4Feet, I ponder the memories and take much satisfaction in them. Including the memory and the lesson of Stella disembowelling the couch because she was bored; I had not yet given her a job. Lesson learned!

barry581, very kind words. Stella was and is a spirit dog, a forever dog.

Blackboy98, she will run (is running) like the wind, which many squirrels were alarmed to learn she could do!

kimbersmom, I tried to put a little thought and feeling into the tribute.

SunDance, in our first years together we tried several things to keep both of us out of mischief. We settled on long fast power walks, the 20 minute a mile kind. I think it was right for both of us then.

    JC001, thank you.

    janedoe, we appreciate it.

We ordered new Lupine collars for Achilles, Fitzi, and Stella. Unfortunately Stella did not get to wear hers. Receiving and handling it was a bittersweet experience.
