      Passings

Most of us know Joe Marengo of SPARRO rescue. Like has really dealt him a couple of tough blows recently.

Sammy, a dog who has ridden with Joe many, many miles picking up rescues has passed. Age was basically the reason.

Just a couple of days ago, Scout, who also travels with Joe passed. Reason is not known; he was a young dog. Joe was driving home from picking up a dog and Scout passed away quietly in the front seat next to Joe. To say the least, Joe is devastated. He does have a young pup, Big Tex, who is next in line to be Joe's travel buddy but still way too young to take on the job right now.

Also, many of us know Kelly; she has Iron Joe and Rhu. Her beloved father passed recently. He was such an inspiration to me having had hip replacement surgery on both hips and recovering to the point that he resumed biking.

This is so sad. My condolences to Joe and Kelly. I can add another member who has recently lost her black lab girl, Jessie. Jessie almost made it to 15. I forget what name her owner used here, she didn't post too much. She lives near me and we have gotten together for walks but never made that last one we were trying to arrange.

My condolences going out to Kelly, Joe, and Jessie's mom...thank you, Fran and Nancy, for letting us know.

It seems like so long ago that we had Joe and Kelly on the board...two members who are genuinely missed. I hope all else is going well for them.

Very sad to hear about all of these deaths. I don't know how Joe keeps it up, I think I saw the news about Scout on FB. Does Kelly still do search and rescue? I'm guessing Iron Joe might be too old for that but maybe her other dog goes? I don't remember Jessie off hand but my thoughts go to her Mom as well. My condolences to all.

Joe did voice that he wondered if he could keep going in rescue. A few days later he was back on the road doing what his heart has lead him to do.

Kelly's Iron Joe is now retired from search and rescue. She taught Rhu to hunt truffles and they meet up with others and go hunting.
