    The Tattoo

Since losing Montana in March 2016 I have been wanting a tattoo. I have none. I considered his paw print but that just would not fit. He was a big boy and I plan to always have dogs...I would likely be covered in paw print tattoos by my end. Here it is. I have been in touch with a local tattoo artist I saw on instagram (love her work and the colors..) This is very much like the beautiful little wildflowers we see in the park where I have spent so much time with both Montana and Dakota over the past 13 years. I often would stop to try to get the perfect macro shot of these and be complaining that the dogs wouldn't stay still enough. I asked her to incorporate their names into this somehow. She said she will draw it up when I get there. I'm thinking of maybe Montana's name to be the stem and Dakota's name to spread out over a petal or one of the leaves...not sure exactly how but yes I think this is it. The beauty of their souls showing in the beauty of this flower from our favorite place. It will be about 3 inches tall and strategically placed on the inside of my left wrist. Symbolism everywhere in this....I spent a lot of time training with them both to walk on my left. I want to be reminded of them both always.

Moving on down the road into the future-China's commemoration will be a daisy. Her simple charm...Dear Lord please let this not be for a long long time. But daisies spring to mind.

Anyway what do you all think? I really hope she can get their names in this and make it still pretty. I wouldn't want just their initials. What if I some day when I'm old forget what the initials mean?

I think it is a wonderful way to show that both are still with you. Both in your heart( for you) and as an outward sign (for others).

You are so creative and the imagery will be a beautiful symbol of their souls.

    It's going to be beautiful!

Have wanted a tattoo for a long time. Just hesitant because I don't know who to go to, what to look for in a good parlor.

I think so too. I've been watching this parlor nearby on Instagram for a while now and I knew that my first was going to be something super meaningful. I will probably go in a few weeks. I wasn't able to after Montana because I hadn't landed on the idea that felt right until now. With such meaning in every aspect of this it feels right.
