    My Sweet Buster :-(

Yesterday was one of the worst days in my life. We had to let our sweet Buster go. I am not going to lie, I am a blubbery mess and haven't slept but 2 hours. The vet said Buster had to have been in a lot of pain, and just never let us know. It was so hard because his back-end was the problem. From the front up, he was a very healthy dog other than losing some hearing. After Buster passed, the vet saw his urine and said he would bet Buster had the onset of a bladder infection, likely from trying to hold in his urine and not go in the house, and said likely soon the bowel problem would have started. Poor guy - even when he couldn't control it, he was trying to please us. We let him out frequently but because he couldn't do stairs, we made his new potty place the deck. I think in his mind even that was wrong since it wasn't on the grass in the yard. We never once scolded or made a big deal for any mess because we knew he couldn't help it. Yesterday afternoon I put Buster on the deck and ran to use the bathroom. When I got back, the little stinker decided he was going down stairs all on his own (he hadn't done this in a long time). By the time I got to him, he was on the last step and did his "business" in the yard. How he got down the steps out of nowhere like that is beyond me.
I miss him tremendously. I am in awe on how he filled my heart so much for all these years, and how empty my heart feels without him. I'm trying to stay strong for my other pups because I know they will miss him too
I got to take one last picture of Buster in front of the tree. I wanted to share this with you because I didn't realize it until I went through my photos last night, that Buster had his tongue sticking out at me on this pic. It's typical Buster fashion - he hated wearing the silly Christmas things I dressed them up in every year, and I guess he was letting me know.

It was time. What a sweet, handsome boy. (He reminds me of a dog a friend of mine lost earlier this year...Phoenix.) Your pictures are bringing tears to my eyes.

Rest in Peace, Buster...what a good dog. Run Free!

Buster had a brave heart and a strong sense of right and wrong. I know it hurts even though you gave him the kindest gift you could when you released him from his pain. Rest in peace, dear boy.

So very, very sorry. Buster was devoted and true in his love and actions to the end. As hard as it is, you gave him the greatest gift of all, freedom from illness and pain. Hugs to you.

    Rest In Peace Buster

It's never easy to say good by but I'm sure Buster is very grateful to be free of his pain. I for one believe we'll get to see them again at the bridge.

    Run free Buster.
