So sorry to read of the loss of your beloved Achilles . What a great life you gave him to reach such a wonderful old age. Kudos to you and Faye! All losses of our beloved dogs hurt, but especially when they've been with us longer than we thought they would. *Hugs*!
    Godspeed sweet Archilles.

Kimbersmom, he gets to rum and jump and play again.

Barry, thanks. I try to keep this in mind: Better a day too early than a day too late, as much as it may hurt and as much as I might second guess.

Barb, yes, it’s good that we were there and not asleep or possibly worse both of us at work. And I heard variations of ‘He looks like a fox’ several times during his life.

JC001, thanks. We like to think he had a good life with us. He was in the shelter for just short of a year when I adopted him. Picked up as a stray, his people never came for him, and put up for adoption. I was able to thank the shelter’s then-animal control officer for trusting me enough to let me adopt him.

ZoeysMommy, he had back trouble for the last year or so. No longer.

    lovemylabby, thank you.

Black Labbies, thanks. He was thought to be 6 when I adopted him which would have made him 18 or so. He was possibly that old though we doubted it. Nonetheless every day of the past several years . . . every day, period . . . was a gift.

Thank you Berna, he was the Chili Dog, a nickname Faye suggested and stuck through the years.

Snowshoe, I appreciate it. It was former board member PATEX who brought him to my attention. I have been, we have been, blessed.

SamsonsMom thank you. He does get to run free now.

katALlabs, we like to think he had a good life. Yet in all the years we owned him he never swam. That day at the beach? ‘Don’t wanna, ain’t gonna, can’t make me. Nope, nope, water belongs in a bowl.’
