Doreen, I know that Maxxie was a senior, but am curious as to what happened. Had he been ill or was is just old age? Prayers and thoughts of you.

So sorry for your loss. Like others said it is overwhelming at first but it gets easier. For me there always has to be a fur-baby of some sort in my home, as I'm unable to have children they are my children. Prayers going up that it gets easier, and that if and when it's right for you the right "new" pup comes into your life for you to love with all your heart. and it doesn't hurt that labs just have that uncanney ability to jump into that special corner of your heart and make you love them so quickly :-)

I am so sorry for your loss. It will take time and it's ok to cry and feel utterly devastated as it is like loosing a child. It will get easier but he will always have a special place in your heart. Big kisses from Juno and I

Hi: I just saw this post. He was not sick. Maxxie was 15 & I felt he had just had enough. He wasn't eating. Getting up was so very hard. I tried to get him out to pee, & he just kept lying down. I really can't explain the feeling. I really just didn't know what to do. Called my Vet in tears & she said bring him in. I had made no decision but somewhere in my heart I knew I wasn't going to be bringing him home.
I miss him so much. I tried a foster for a week but it didn't work out. She was too aggressive & reactive with other dogs. She was a country girl, not a city girl. I cried my eyes out about her too. I think about her all the time & check with the shelter to see how she is doing & if she has been adopted. I sent 3 bags of treats to the shelter for her & her friends. I am going to take my time on another dog. I want a Lab again. An adult hopefully.
